Sunday Brunch Series!
Learn to Sail at the Friendliest Club on the Bay!
The GGYC Sailing Team provides FREE lessons on the club's fleet of Flying Juniors (FJs) and C420s. Chalk talk starts at 10am in the Americas Cup lounge followed by rigging and boat handling drills until brunch. Post-brunch racing from 1-3pm.
GGYC Sunday Brunch Series is the easiest way in the bay area to meet active sailors and take sailing lessons. Members have priority but available spots will be offered to non-members with reciprocity and individuals interested in joining the GGYC.
GGYC has three type of membership rates; regular, corinthian, and assoicate members.
Initiation and monthly rates:
Corinthian: $600/$75 (experienced sailors crewing on GGYC race boats)
Associate: $245/$45 (ages 19-29)
Introduction to Sailing (2 hrs)
New to sailing or looking to brush up on your skills before your next trip? Join one of the GGYC's instructors on the Cal 25 for a sailing lesson. Classroom instruction covers basic sailing theory, wind/current analysis, knot tying, rigging, docking and right-of-way rules. Sailing portion focuses on rigging, basic keelboat manuevers, right of way rules and docking.
Intro lesson $200/sailor.
Private lessons can be scheduled as individual or group. Private lessons are tailored to an individual's experience level, schedule and desired learning objectives. Private lessons are also a great way to build confidence and acquire the necessary skills to become a certified skipper. Group lessons are a great way to enjoy sailing with a couple of your closest friends, learn the basics of keelboat handing and enjoy the beauty of San Francisco bay.
Private lesson - $100/hr
Group lesson (3 students) - $200/hr
Racing Lessons (3 hrs)
Join the racing action during a Friday Night Series (May-Aug) or Mid-Winter Series (Sep-Mar). Racing lesson includes classroom instruction focused on the US Sailing Racing Rules and Cal 25 or J22 on-water practice starts. The lesson culminates with students racing with a GGYC sailing instructor in a club race. Participants should already be comfortable with basic sailing techniques and concepts, since this lesson will focus on racing rules, tactics and strategy.
