Introduction to Sailing
$100 / person
New to sailing? No boat, No problem! Join one of club's instructors on a Cal 25 keelboat to learn the basics sailing principals, including the points of sail and right-of-way rules. You will also get to experience the San Francisco Bay's unique wind, tide and current.
Basic Keelboat Sailing
$75 / per student
After you complete Basic Keelboat, you may want or need more practice before you can safely and confidently skipper a small keelboat in the San Francisco Bay. Private, individually-tailored lessons are the best way to acquire the necessary skills in minimal time. Private lessons are available on any of the GGYC sailboats.
$200 / weekdays, $300 / weekends
If being the Skipper of the boat isn't for you, consider a Skippered Charter. GGYC will provide a skipper to captain the boat and ensure a safe sail for you and your crew at all times. You pick the location! Cruise up to Golden Gate Bridge to search for Grey whales, sail around Alcatraz or Angel Island, and enjoy unique views of San Francisco's city front. Max of 4 hours.
Get right into the action by participating in GGYC’s Friday Night series or Mid-Winter races! The Racing Package includes one classroom lesson focused on fleet or match racing a J22 in local conditions, plus a practice race. This course culminates with the students racing with a GGYC sailing instructor in a Friday Night race, a Mid-Winter series race, an interclub match race, or in one of the many SF Bay weekend regattas. To enroll, participants should already be comfortable with basic sailing techniques and concepts, since this course will focus on racing rules and tactics.
